On 18 April 2013 at 7pm, a Guitar-Soirée "Women and Guitar" will take place in the headquarters of Lotto Rheinland-Pfalz, one of the major sponsors of the Koblenz International Guitar Festival.
The artists include: the siblings Nikita and Nasstja Müller (Wiesbaden), Bahar Türker (Turkey), Theresia and Katharina Weimer (Essen) and Sabrina Vlascalic (Serbia).
There will also be a presentation of this year's Koblenz International Guitar Festival programme to the media and the public.
As of 1 September 2013 Prof. Costas Cotsiolis (Greece) and Prof. Alexander S. Ramirez (Germany/Peru) will join the teaching staff of the Koblenz International Guitar Academy.

The Koblenz International Guitar Academy was established in 2007 as an all-year-round working Academy of the Koblenz International Guitar Festival dedicated to the development and further education of young guitarists. The Academy works in collaboration with the Staatsorchester Rheinische Philharmonie, the Musikschule der Stadt Koblenz and the Koblenz International Guitar Society e.V.. There have been around 40 students studying in four departments of the Academy, coming from Germany, Mexico, Columbia, Brazil, Canada, Italy, Spain, Belarus, Armenia, Japan, Taiwan, China, Indonesia, Israel, Australia and Turkey.
Departments:I) Preparatory studies in collaboration with the Musikschule der Stadt Koblenz:Subjects:Guitar, second instrument (optional), music theory, aural training, general music teaching, sight-singing, choir, performance class. Examinations:Two examinations per year Faculty:Prof. Hubert Käppel (guitar), Georg Schmitz (theory) Overseas students may also take classes in German language, in preparation for the German Examination of the Hochschules. Entry Requirements:Instrumental entrance examination (10-minute free programme) and aural test. Course Fees:1,560 euros each year. Fees should be paid to the Musikschule der Stadt Koblenz. II) Specialist department for very gifted young students in collaboration with the Musikschule der Stadt Koblenz:Subjects:Guitar, appropriate theory classes are optional. Examinations:Two examinations per year. Faculty:Prof. Hubert Käppel (guitar), Georg Schmitz (theory). Entry Requirements:Instrumental entrance examination (6-minute free programme) and aural test. In this department guitarists seeking entry will be accepted from roughly 8 or 9 years of age. Parents who are interested in applying should get in contact with the Director of the Musikschule der Stadt Koblenz, Herrn Hans-Peter Lörsch (0261 129 2551). Course Fees:1,560 euros each year. Fees should be paid to the Musikschule der Stadt Koblenz.
III) Postgraduate Studies in collaboration with the Staatsorchester Rheinische Philharmonie and the Musikschule der Stadt Koblenz:Subjects:Guitar, performance class, chamber music, music theory, aural training, analysis, seminar music management, seminar health advice for professional musicians. Examinations:Final Examination Part I:Solo Recital (60 minutes). Final Examination Part II:Concert performance with the Staatsorchester Rheinische Philharmonie. Compulsory work:Concierto de Aranjuez by Joaquín Rodrigo.
Students may only sit for the Final Examination Part II once they have achieved results at the level of "very good"(1,0 – 1,5) in the Final examination Part I. Final Examination Part II will not be graded. Faculty:Prof. Hubert Käppel (guitar, chamber music, performance class), Prof. Dale Kavanagh (guitar), Goran Krivokapic (guitar), Sven Fischer (electric guitar), Russell Poyner, Georg Schmitz (music theory, aural training, analysis), Prof. Ingeborg Henzler (music management), Prof. Dr. Michael Schmitz (health advice for professional musicians) Entry Requirements:Completed music studies and an audition (15-minute free programme and one movement from a work by J.S. Bach). Course fees:2,750 euros per year. Fees should be paid to the Koblenz International Guitar Festival & Academy.
IV) Further studies for music teachers in specialist music schools:Subjects:Guitar and all other subjects are optional in the postgraduate department. Examinations:None, students will receive a training course certficate. Faculty:Prof. Hubert Käppel, Prof. Dale Kavanagh, Marcin Dylla. Entry Requirements:Completed music studies and performance experience, entrance interview as well as a performance audition. Course fees:2,750 euros per year. Fees should be paid to the Koblenz International Guitar Festival & Academy. Course venue: Preparatory Studies and Specialist Department for Very Young Gifted Students:Musikschule der Stadt Koblenz, Hoevelstr. 6, 56073 Koblenz Postgraduate and Further Studies: Koblenz International Guitar Academy, Bahnhofstr. 58, 56068 Koblenz Accommodation:The Koblenz International Guitar Academy has its own student accommodation, especially for overseas students. The rooms are fully furnished and cost, depending on size, from 260 euros (room) to 500 euros (apartments) each month, including all utility expenses and an Internet connection.
